Impact of Social Media on Workplace Dynamics: Post 2
With the increasing and extensive use of social media
and technology, employees are likely to feel more empowered to share information
in lieu of exclusive trainer-trainee relationships (Singer, 2015). Through the
past few years, we have come across DIY videos, how-to’s, tutorials etc., on social
media websites such as YouTube and Pinterest (Singer, 2015). Guides are also present in the form of blogs
written by “experts” on their special area of expertise, passing their
knowledge to others. People are getting used to learning through collective
data available online, that is easily accessible at any time. Similar change is
expected to be seen at workplace in the future (Singer, 2015).
By 2030, it is expected that people will get
accustomed to learn through collective information online. ‘Crowdsourcing’ or
the practice of gaining knowledge by the services of a large group of people,
via the internet, is likely to become an enhanced trend in workplaces (Singer, 2015).
By 2030, managers would have to spend minimal or no
effort in on-boarding to train new hires (Singer, 2015).
ReplyDeleteResearch shows that online training is the new trend for training new employees. Online training is still quite a young phenomenon that still raking in 27 billion dollars (BIS Training Solutions, 2015). You are correct in saying that in 2030, more companies will reply on this training method as it is both reliable, convenient, and will be cheaper than other training methods in 2030 (BIS Training Solutions, 2015) .
