History of Social Media and Social Media in Work Post 3
Social
media in the workplace can be both good and bad. Social media outlets can be
used as a platform to vent feelings regarding the workplace which can also be
both good and bad (Pike, 2017, p. 1-4). For this reason social media has not
really been a part of the workplace. But it is predicted that the future of
social media in the workplace is bright as it aids in customer service. More
and more companies are using social media to interact with their customers. As
mentioned previously, social media can be used to vent feelings regarding the
workplace, consumers can also use social media outlets to express their
feelings towards companies. For instance, if a customer is satisfied with the
service or disappointed with the service they have received from a company such
as McDonald’s they can use a social media platform like Twitter to express
their concerns and feelings. If they mention or tag the comment or concern
towards Mcdonalds, Mcdonalds will see it and could reply to the customer. The
company can then use this information to improve their services and aim for greater
customer satisfaction.

Social media can be a positive attribute to the workplace. Social platforms are beneficial as they can help the company connect with consumers and employees and gain feedback. Many companies today use social platforms as a way to connect with consumers and receive feedback on their business and how to better themselves (Edsomwan, Prakasan, Kouaome, Watson, & Seymour, 2011).
